In 1999, tv sound’s debut LP Record Jacket Life might have sounded as if it had come out of nowhere, but anyone listening or playing in and around their hometown of Kearny, NJ in the 90’s recognized it as the work of a band that had turned the best of its garage, mod, and punk influences into sixteen incredibly powerful and catchy songs. They gigged regularly in renowned dives across New Jersey and New York from The Saint in Asbury Park to Maxwell’s in Hoboken to Coney Island High in NYC. They have seen their songs featured in compilations by Little Steven Van Zandt and movies starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. Through it all, tv sound have left an undeniable mark on its loyal and spirited audience – one that helped keep their original scene out of Hudson County moving forward (including leading to the formation of this very label in 2010).
Flash ahead to 2013: after a decade of radio silence and several hair-raising brushes with the law and their own mortality, tv sound returned to the airwaves, releasing their unexpected but long-awaited seven-song salvo Amber Glass High on Killing Horse Records. With this, the band began gigging, writing, and recording again in earnest, enthralling its core fan base while reaching a whole new audience.
Now in 2016 tv sound and Killing Horse are pleased to offer up the band’s third release: Telecommando – a seven-song minor masterpiece of exciting new tunes that will suck in new listeners and please the old with their classic Jam-esque licks, sing-a-long hooks, and garage-band grooves.
Telecommando will be available soon from Killing Horse Records along with their prior releases, Amber Glass High and their original debut, Record Jacket Life.
